Cowboys release Lucky Whitehead amidst off-field drama according to : Sporting News

The Cowboys have had enough with Lucky Whitehead. Whitehead failed to appear in court for a July 6 arraignment and a warrant was issued shortly thereafter. Whitehead was escorted off the field by a Cowboys public relations staff member following Monday's practice and was not allowed to speak with the media. Whitehead said his dog, Blitz, was returned after he paid an undisclosed amount of money. News of the arrest warrant came after Whitehead, 25, was involved in an odd dog-napping case when he says his dog was stolen and being held for ransom by amateur rapper Boogotti Kasino.

The Dallas Cowboys have cut wide receiver Lucky Whitehead on the same day police in Virginia announced he is facing misdemeanor petty larceny charges stemming from an arrest in June. Furthermore, Rapoport reported on Inside Training Camp Live that Rich told him Whitehead flew from Dallas/Fort Worth Interational Airport to Dulles International Airport in Washington, D.C. roughly seven hours after his reported arrest in Virginia on June 22. "But this would explain why Whitehead, his agent and the Cowboys had no idea about the arrest or the hearing that he missed until earlier today when it was reported. When asked about the arrest by reporters after training camp practice Monday, Whitehead responded, "I didn't even know about that."
